Mission and vision of the University of Primorska, Faculty of Education

The University of Primorska, Faculty of Education will successfully develop pedagogical, research and artistic work based on lifelong learning and taking into account technological and social changes. It will train quality staff and develop the field of education and artistic participation through innovative research. It will promote public awareness of the challenges and role of education in today's ever-changing environment and of the importance of lifelong learning. In pursuing its vision, it will strive to create a faculty community based on the collaboration of students, higher education teachers and staff, researchers and practitioners.

Mission of the University of Primorska, Faculty of Education

The mission of the University of Primorska, Faculty of Education is to provide quality education and continuing professional education and development of teaching staff and artists. The Faculty makes a significant contribution to the development of the field of education and scientific research and artistic disciplines in the national and international environment, bringing together the theories, practices and development policies of the fields in which it operates, while at the same time ensuring further education and cooperation with educational, higher education and other institutions, as well as cultural and artistic institutions.

Values of the University of Primorska, Faculty of Education

The values of the University of Primorska, Faculty of Education, freedom and autonomy, responsibility, openness, excellence and quality, and respect for diversity, are based on the constitutionally guaranteed autonomy and the Declaration on Human Rights, which define both the Faculty's relationship to the local, national and international environment in general, and its internal organisation and the free scientific, research, educational and artistic activity of its entire academic community: students, teachers and staff, researchers and professionals. These values are in harmony with the universally valid premises that define the functioning of higher education institutions in the world at large, and also take into account all the specificities of the Slovenian national space.

Freedom and autonomy: The Faculty is an environment in which the highest achievements of human creativity, research, expression of thought and knowledge are realised independently of capital, politics, the state and religion. The Faculty is a unique example of an academic environment that must strive to realise not only academic but also other freedoms, fundamental rights and liberties - freedom of thought, human dignity, creativity and work.

Responsibility: The Faculty is committed to full responsibility across the full spectrum of its activities: responsibility towards ethical research, quality education and free artistic expression.

Openness: The Faculty is fully open in all its functioning dimensions to the national and international academic and wider social space in the fields of scientific research, education and artistic work. 

Excellence and Quality: The Faculty strives for excellence and quality, in collaboration with all members of the academic community, based on ethical, scientific research and artistic judgements.

Respect for diversity: The Faculty encourages diversity both within and outside the academic environment, which opens up and enriches the Faculty's activities.

The wording of the Mission and Vision Statement of the UP PEF was adopted at the 12th regular session of the Senate of the UP PEF on 12 January 2021.
