On Monday, June 29, 2026, the Slovenian Science Foundation (SZF) presented the Prometheus of Science Awards for exemplary philanthropy and excellence in communication at a ceremonial academy held in the hall of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia.
Among the eight Prometheus of Science awards for excellence in communication for the year 2025, two recipients were from the UP:
Prof. Dr. Mojca Kukanja Gabrijelčič (UP PEF) for authoring a handbook on giftedness and gifted individuals titled "Zakaj bi jih učili hoditi, če lahko letijo?" (published in 2025).

Prof. Dr. Tomaž Grušovnik (UP PEF) for two original works in book form - Okoljski pojmovnik za mlade and Argumenti na krožniku (both published in 2025).

Among the recipients of the award are also:
• The University of Maribor for implementing the oooZnanost! project during the 2024–2025 period, in which the University of Primorska participated as a partner; • The communications team of ACM Slovenia: Dr. Špela Cerar, Dr. Alenka Kavčič, Dr. Rok Požar (University of Primorska), and Nežka Rugelj for their achievements in promoting computational thinking (the ACM Bober competition).
The SZF has been promoting science communication since 2003. The committee, consisting of Prof. Dr. Irena Lazar, Prof. Dr. Jože Grdadolnik, Ms. Ina Petric, Mr. Andraž Ivšek, Mr. Samo Kranjec, and Dr. Mojca Vizjak Pavšič, chair of the Selection Committee for the 2025 Prometheus of Science Award, faced a challenging task again this year. Among the nominated candidates, they recognized an exceptional diversity of approaches, fields, and achievements, but all nominations were linked by a common thread: a dedication to promoting scientific culture and a commitment to ensuring that scientific knowledge reaches as wide an audience as possible.
